Voluntary Contributions & Charges

Year 7 - 10 Voluntary Contributions assist with the cost of providing an educational program that satisfies the requirements of the WA Curriculum. All students in Years 7 to 10 must have access to a full learning program within the maximum voluntary contribution of $235, regardless of whether the parent pays or not. The voluntary contributions collected are used towards providing materials, online services and facilities directly used or consumed by students, including hire of textbooks or the provision of text material. To support our students please consider payment in full.

Year 7 - 10 Charges are applied to high-cost options or for specialised programs e.g. SVAPA, Academic Enrichment, GAT, Instrumental Music. Students elect to take part in programs that incur a charge. These are compulsory and if charges are not paid or an arrangement made, students may be changed from these subjects into those attracting a voluntary contribution where no charges apply.

Year 11 and Year 12 Course Charges are compulsory. The school ensures that these charges are kept to a minimum. The charge does not exceed the actual cost of materials required for the course.

Voluntary Approved Requests

P&C Association

The Parents and Citizens Association is grateful for the support from families and this amount helps provide continuous fundraising throughout the year. The P&C is committed to improving the amenities offered to students and the learning environment.

Chaplaincy/Pastoral Care

The amount requested is per family only, however donations are welcome over the requested $30. The school only receives a small amount of funding from the Federal Government for the School Chaplain. We feel that it is important to have a full-time Chaplain and the funds raised help support him. Each and every student, regardless of beliefs, can be associated with programs run by the Chaplain. Engagement by students and families is voluntary. The support provided by families for the work of the Chaplain, for the general wellbeing of students, is very much appreciated. Our Chaplain is also the coordinator of the school's Bush Rangers Cadet Unit.

Healthy Active Program

This initiative has been recognised with Excellence awards for Health and Physical Activity from the Australian Council of Health Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER).  The program is designed to offer a broader array of alternative options for physical activity, through school-based activities and to promote and encourage improved physical and mental health for students. The project augments the current Health and Physical Education curriculum and supports and encourages health and physical activity amongst the whole school community. Each year, more than 50% of the school population have been involved in and benefitted from the program. Initial funding for this project was provided by a grant from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. The program has proven to be extremely successful over the years, and your contribution will enable the program to continue.

Technology & Innovation Initiative

This supports the acquisition of learning technologies equipment and innovative ideas and programs across the school. This includes computers, data projectors, smart board technology and large TVs. These funds help maintain an up-to-date technology environment. Mount Lawley Senior High School is committed to becoming a leading technology school.  Currently the school provides computers in music laboratories and other areas. Other technologies for student use across the school are constantly being increased. The school is committed to expanding its technology base and delivery system.

Literacy & Numeracy Initiative

This supports the literacy, language development and numeracy programs across the school. Monies raised from this initiative have funded the purchase of practical and up-to-date software and texts that students in all learning areas can use to develop their reading, writing and numeracy skills. Different strategies or ideas are also funded in an endeavour to keep abreast of latest learning strategies and techniques that enhance student learning and participation.

Library Resources & ICT Resources

These requests go towards the constant re-stocking and resourcing of the school with books, learning materials, technology and other educational resources used by all students.  Funds received from families ensures the availability of up-to-date resources to complement the WA Curriculum.

Music Support Group

Only students who are in the Music Program are asked to contribute to the Music Support Group. Funds raised help the group sustain music initiatives within the school, e.g. new large cost instruments.
