ArtsHub Award Nomination

Congratulations to the school's SVAPA program on being shortlisted in the in the WA ArtsHub Awards for the category 'Innovation Award for a group, organisation or company'.

It is also up for a People's Choice award!

We would love people to vote for the project, which is called 'The Museum of Now' by following the link.

In June the SVAPA students presented a ground-breaking performance at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA).

The Museum of Now was part of the PICA Spark_lab education program.

Mount Lawley SHS was given an artist-in-residence plus two other artists and the space at PICA for the final performance.

James Berlyn was the lead artist and Tristan Parr and Josh Hogan developed the sound component and Melbourne artist Lloyd Godman developed the installation and visual work.

Sixty students from the SVAPA program from Years 8-11 were involved.

It was a resounding success.

Tara Daniel the Education Manager at PICA must be congratulated on developing such a fine model for school's involvement with the arts through PICA.

We were lucky to have such a dynamic project and that happened through the agency of James and the artists, the students' enthusiasm and the dedication of the Arts' teachers who gave hours and expertise to the project.

To be shortlisted for the Artshub Innovations award is awesome.

Your vote would be appreciated to lift it from nomination to gold in the people's choice.

Thankyou.
